About the People of Nileshwar
The people of Nileshwar are of mixed races
and most of them are soft and good in nature.
Life Style: - As
Nileshwar is part of Kerala the lifestyle of the people here
also as same as of Kerala, though some deference may be noticed
of those from south of Kerala.
Language: - Almost
all people are speaking Malayalam, and a few like the Shetty,
Shenoy(Kannada Brahmins) are using Kongini in their home and
within their relatives, but all have good fluency in Malayalam.
About 30% of the Population have knowledge in English and
Hindi.
Occupation: - Earlier
most of the people were farmers, as time passes they slowly
turn to various sectors, now many are employed with Govt.
and Private in and around as well as in Military, Abroad etc.
There are lot of people doing business and some community
especialy residing at the seashore are fishermen.
Religion: - The people
here are practicing deference religion mainly Hindus then
Muslims and Christians. Other religion like Buddhist and Jain
are there but very few. Even the people of deference religions
are staying mixed in all localities, they are living in peace
and harmony helping each other.
Education: - Around
90% of literacy achieved in Nileshwar and the literacy programmes
are on. Nowadays facilities for education is well available
especially for primary education, most of the students are
completing their secondary education and 70 to 80% of them
are going for higher studies like graduation in arts and commerce,
others are turning to business or to their traditional job.
Even though facilities for PEG like higher studies are available,
after graduation most of the youth start searching for a job,
yet there are lot of Post Graduates and Ph.D. scholars are
coming out of the colleges annually.
Culture: - The coexistence
of the people of this area are excellent as the society keeps
the culture and heritage of their ancestors. Contrary to the
educational level, people are attaining good knowledge through
reading, attending seminars, classes etc. are conducted by
cultural societies and institutions. Any where deep in the
village reading rooms and books are available which helps
the people to make a practice of reading valuable books. There
are lot of organisations including small clubs in the villages
who conducting arts and cultural proggrammes to entertain
and educate the people.
Activities: - Lot
of people especially youth are participating in activities
like arts and sports. This place is famous for art forms like
drama, poorakkali, theyyam, ottam thullal, poratte, kolkkali,
classical dance etc. this is the home of so many famous artists
in Kerala - the recent one is the cini actress Kavya - . In
sports Nileshwar is famous for football, kabadi and athletics,
Nileshwar had contributed even national players in football
and kabadi.
